Sound the trumpets and sing it from the hillsides… Paperhand Puppet Intervention is proud to present its’ 15th annual summer spectacle:

What if it rains?
We try to adhere to the adage, “The show must go on,” however occasionally we have to postpone or cancel a show to prevent damage to the puppets, instruments and sound equipment used in the show. If it begins raining before the show we will wait until 6:00 pm to make a final decision as to whether or not the show can go on.  If it begins raining during a show we will temporarily pause the show to see if the rain will pass, but will not delay the show any longer than 20-30 minutes.  All updates will be posted on the front page of our website and on our facebook page.  If the show is cancelled after you have purchased your ticket you may use your program as a ticket for another performance.

Where do I park?
We recommend taking a look at the UNC Parking map if you are unfamiliar with the area as parking can be a little tricky in Chapel Hill.  Lots “V”, “ND”, “N5”, and nearby street parking are the most convenient to the theater and are open to the public most nights and weekends.  We ask that the lot directly behind Forest Theater be reserved for performer and disability parking.  There are also parking decks on Franklin Street that are a short walk away, check out this Franklin St Parking map for more info. ALWAYS read the signs before you park and NEVER park in unauthorized spaces or along the road- they WILL ticket and/or tow!

Is there handicap parking and accessibility?
We always save a few spaces in the lot directly behind Forest Theater for handicap parking.  Although the Forest Theater is not yet handicap accessible we are more than happy to help folks in wheelchairs and with other mobility issues to get in and find a way to see the show.  If you have any questions about accessibility or if you would like to let us know if advance that you have special parking/accessibility needs to insure we can accommodate those contact Lawruh at

How much does it cost?
A suggested donation of $12 for adults and $8 for kids, children 3 and under get in free.  While ticket sales are an important part of supporting our continued work, we believe strongly that no one should be turned away due to lack of funds.

When should I arrive?
All evening performances begin at 7:00 with a pre-show act at 6:20.  Matinees begin at 3:00 with a 2:20 pre-show act.  We highly recommend arriving early to see the wonderful opening acts and to ensure you get the seating you desire.

How long is the show?
City of Frogs runs approximately 1 and a half hours with no intermission.

What should I bring?
We encourage you to bring cushions, blankets, picnics and anything else that will help you comfortably enjoy the show.  We do ask that you be respectful of those around you and try not to take up too much space!  Please note that we do not encourage you to bring dogs to the show and smoking is not allowed.

Can I reserve tickets in advance?
At the Forest Theater all tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis when the box office opens around 6:00 and are general admission.  Tickets for shows at the NC Museum of Art may be purchased in advance at:

Can we see the puppets and talk to the puppeteers after the show?
We love talking to the audience after the show to get feedback and are happy to show off the puppets up close after the show.  That being said, packing up at the end of the night can be quite a process so we do ask that you try to stay out of the way of the puppeteers and musicians who begin packing up right after the show.

Are there restrooms?
There are port-o-potties near the main entrance to the Forest Theater for your convenience.
